History

2004 – Officially renamed as National Formosa University with approval from the Ministry of Education; the College of Engineering was established, and the first dean was Professor Lai Xin-Yi.
2004 – The Department of Aeronautical Engineering passed IEET engineering education accreditation.
2006 – The Ph.D. program of the Graduate Institute of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering was established; the Master's program of the Institute of Materials Science and Green Energy Engineering was established.
2006 – All departments and institutes in the college received the highest evaluation from the Ministry of Education.
2007 – The Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Design Engineering passed IEET engineering education accreditation.
2007 – Professor Jue Wen-Yu was selected as the second dean of the college.
2007 – Master's programs of the Graduate Institute of Creative Engineering and Precision Technology, and the Graduate Institute of Aeronautical and Electronic Technology were established.
2008 – The Departments of Automation Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Power Mechanical Engineering, and the Mechatronic Auxiliary Program passed IEET engineering education accreditation; at this point, all departments in the college were accredited.
2008 – The Master's program of Automation Engineering was established.
2009 – The Master's program of Mechanical Design Engineering was established.
2010 – Professor Jue Wen-Yu was reappointed as dean of the college.
          · The Master's program of Vehicle Engineering was established.
          · The Power Mechanical Engineering Department merged with the Mechatronic Auxiliary Program.
          · The Creative & Precision Institute was renamed as the Master's program of the Mechatronic Auxiliary Program.
2010 – All departments and programs in the college received the highest evaluation from the Ministry of Education.
2011 – All daytime two-year technical programs were discontinued.
2013 – Professor Lin Sheng-Yong was selected as the fourth dean.
2014 – All departments, programs, and educational tracks in the college passed IEET engineering education accreditation.
2016 – Professor Lin Sheng-Yong was reappointed as dean.
2017 – Established the Aviation Maintenance Training Center.
          The Department of Mechanical Design added one class for the Five-Year Junior College Program in Precision Mechanical Engineering.
2018 – Established the "Bachelor’s Program in Aviation Maintenance".
2019 – Professor He Zhi-Ting was selected as the sixth dean.
2020 – The Doctoral Program of Intelligent Industry Technology Research and Development was established for the 109th academic year.
2020 – The Department of Power Mechanical Engineering’s evening two-year technical program was discontinued and converted to a part-time two-year program.
2020 – All departments, programs, and educational tracks in the college passed IEET engineering education accreditation.
2021 – The Department of Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering’s evening two-year program was discontinued (110th academic year).
2021 – The “WoHu Special Class” was established (110th academic year).
2022 – Professor He Zhi-Ting was reappointed as dean.
2022 – The in-service Master's program of Materials Science and Green Energy Engineering was discontinued (111th academic year).
2025 – The International Master’s Program in Advanced Intelligent Vehicles was established (114th academic year).
2025-8/1 – Vice President Fang served as acting dean of the College of Engineering until a new dean was selected.
